Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talk therapy that addresses how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact to maintain mental health difficulties. It aims to help you identify and modify negative or unhelpful thought and behavioural patterns and teaching practical skills to manage them. Through structured sessions, I will guide you to challenge distorted thinking, develop coping mechanisms, and practice new behaviours. This approach empowers you to break negative cycles, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall well-being. CBT is effective for various conditions, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD, provides tools for lasting change.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) emphasises psychological flexibility, helping you to build a rich and meaningful life, even in the presence of challenging experiences. It encourages an acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than struggling against them, and focuses on clarifying personal values and committing to actions aligned with those values. Through mindfulness and acceptance techniques, you will learn to observe your thoughts without judgment, creating space for meaningful living. ACT promotes engaging fully in the present moment, fostering a sense of purpose. It doesn't aim to eliminate discomfort, but to change one's relationship with it.

Metacognitive Therapy (MCT)

Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) targets unhelpful thinking patterns, specifically focusing on how you relate to your thoughts, rather than the content of the thoughts themselves. It addresses the "thinking about thinking" process, challenging beliefs about worry and rumination. MCT aims to reduce the "Cognitive Attentional Syndrome" (CAS), a pattern of prolonged worrying, rumination, threat monitoring and unhelpful coping strategies. By modifying metacognitive beliefs, you will learn to detach from negative thoughts, and break the cycle of negative thoughts and behaviour.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. It uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, taps, or sounds, while the client recalls distressing images. This process helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional impact. EMDR aims to shift negative beliefs and emotions linked to the trauma, fostering adaptive resolution. It allows you to access and process traumatic experiences in a safe environment, promoting healing and reducing symptoms like flashbacks and anxiety. EMDR is particularly effective for PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related conditions.
